KPIs to Track on Your Revenue Dashboard: The Metrics That Actually Matter

April 29, 2026

Not All Metrics Belong on Your Revenue Dashboard

A common mistake in dashboard design is including too many metrics. A dashboard cluttered with 40 different numbers is as unusable as a dashboard with none. The goal is to identify the 10 to 15 metrics that most directly indicate the health of your revenue engine and display only those. Every metric that appears on your dashboard should answer one question: if this number changes significantly, does it require my attention?

Tier 1: Revenue and Financial Metrics

  • Total revenue this period vs. last period: The headline number that shows overall trajectory
  • Revenue vs. target: Percentage of monthly or quarterly revenue target achieved
  • Recurring revenue: Monthly or annual recurring revenue for subscription businesses
  • Average deal size: Tracks whether your deal quality is improving or declining over time
  • Revenue by source: Which channels, products, or team members are generating the most revenue

Tier 2: Pipeline and Conversion Metrics

  • Total pipeline value: The combined value of all active deals weighted by probability
  • Deals by stage: How many opportunities are in each pipeline stage right now
  • Stage conversion rates: What percentage of deals progress from each stage to the next
  • Average sales cycle length: How long it takes from first contact to closed deal
  • Win rate: What percentage of qualified opportunities you are converting to clients

Tier 3: Lead and Marketing Metrics

  • New leads this period: Total leads generated and broken down by source
  • Lead-to-appointment rate: What percentage of leads convert to a booked call
  • Cost per lead by channel: Marketing efficiency across each acquisition channel
  • Lead quality score: Average lead score for inbound leads indicating qualification level

Tier 4: Team Activity Metrics

  • Calls and contacts made: Activity levels that drive future pipeline
  • Response time: Average time to first contact for new leads
  • Tasks completed: Follow-through rate on scheduled activities
